BC-A

*1987 in Hall in Tirol, lives and works in Innsbruck

BC-A, short for Barbara Caroline A., is a DJ, promoter, and co-founder of EAT network based in Innsbruck. With a definite soft spot for all things bassy and breaky, she explores the boundaries of techno in her sets, blending percussive grooves with broken beats and heavy basslines, while increasingly embracing ambient soundscapes – and the occasional hardcore or gabber outburst when the moment calls for it. She has played in various cities and venues, including Tresor Berlin, Corsica Studios London, Museion Bolzano, Grelle Forelle Vienna, and has been featured on radio stations like Rinse, Res Radio, and Radio Rudina. In 2020, she became a part of the multi-genre collective Inseminoid, a non-profit cultural association that emphasizes live performances and visual art, with a strong commitment to prioritizing FLINTA* artists in its programming.
Firmly opposing gendered power dynamics in nightlife, Barbara co-founded the FLINTA* network EAT in 2022 and is a proud member since. Barbara is a cultural worker at TKI – Tiroler Kulturinitiativen, focusing on climate culture by bridging the pressing issues of climate protection and justice with the transformative potential of arts and culture. She also serves on the board of IG Kultur Österreich and works as a technician at Theater praesent. Guided by feminist values, she emphasizes solidarity, community, and a deep respect for the environment in all her endeavors, hoping to create and sustain cultural spaces for collective well-being.
